Amelia 7th Birthday is a pure expression of Loganberry flavor and aroma. In the early 1880's Santa Cruz fruit breeder James Harvey Logan interbred Aughinbaugh blackberries with Red Antwerp raspberries, and the loganberry was born. Deep red in color, this melomel lets the bright tartness and natural acidity of the berries shine through, expertly balanced by Orange Blossom honey sweetness. Like this mead's namesake, Amelia is expected to develop and mature for many years. This loganberry mead was aged in new French oak barrels. The journey of creating this mead was one of precision and patience. The oak for these barrels was aged for five years before being crafted into staves, which were then carefully shaped into 225L Château Tradition barrels, each with a custom toast. This meticulous process has infused the mead with layers of complexity and character, balancing the vibrant fruit notes of the loganberries with the nuanced depth that only the finest French oak can impart.
