Impressive barleywine nose full of grapes and molasses. Shifts to the nuttiness that is the heart of the brew. Pistachio comes through surprisingly well. It also mellows out the sweetness a bit. This is a rare find treat.

Prefer Vol 2 but this is also great. Phenomenal nose. Adjuncts: mocha, pistachio, walnut, fig. Barrel-aged 1.5 years. Boozy, dry chocolate, the fig comes in on the finish, then a dry, chalky, slight bitterness from the cocoa finishes.
